Slate is very well trained to ride and drive. He has a lot of experience hacking out, including on the road and in town, where we meant big semi trucks passing us from the front and back, and he hardly batted an eye. On the trails, he will cross creeks and logs, and carry you safely up and down steep hills. We have trailered him to different places, and he is confident and calm in a new environment, loading and unloading with no fuss.
He is well schooled in the arena, with beautiful, floaty gaits. He picks up either lead in the canter, and is well balanced. He is schooled in the leg yield and shoulder in. He is confident, and ready to go to his first dressage show. He will carry a tarp or flag for you, and cross all sorts of obstacles, making him an excellent candidate for working equitation.
In the barn and pasture, he will be the first to greet you, batting his soft eyes with the frosty lashes. Every moment spent with this guy will be enjoyed, as he stands quietly to be groomed and bathed. Your farrier will thank you, as he stands quietly in cross ties to have his feet done. He is fine around the vet, and has his Spring shots done. He has no maintenance, and no history of lameness.
