ALFREDO 12-Year-Old Grey Gelding • 15.1 Hands Alfredo is the kind you’re glad to see standing at the gate when it’s time to go riding. At 12 years old and 15.1 hands, this handsome grey gelding has a good mind, plenty of experience and a way of making things feel pretty simple. He’s gentle for anyone and suitable for all levels of riders, from someone getting back into horses to a seasoned rider who appreciates one that is broke and dependable. He’s earned his miles doing more than circles in an arena. Alfredo has been used around the ranch gathering cattle, opening gates, checking things and helping with the regular chores that need doing. He knows how to travel through country and pay attention to where he’s going. Outside the ranch, he’s the kind you can point down a trail and cover some ground on. Hills, water, rocks, brush, logs and narrow trails are all familiar territory. He rides through traffic and everyday commotion, will go out alone, and rides well with company. In the arena, Alfredo has a nice handle. He walks, trots and lopes both directions, takes his leads, neck reins, stops, backs and turns around. He has enough education to ride correctly without requiring his rider to be an expert. He’s also been around the things horses tend to get tested with — flags, tarps, obstacles and plenty of activity — and handles himself like an experienced horse should. On the ground, he stands tied, tacks up well, bathes, loads and hauls, and is good for the farrier. Stall him or turn him out; either suits him. Alfredo isn’t complicated and he doesn’t need a long introduction. He’s a good, broke, safe grey gelding that just about anyone can get along with — and sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for.
