Who doesn’t love a pretty blonde?  Meet Charlotte—she’s a 4-year-old, 15.1–15.2hh Percheron/QH cross palomino mare. This girl is built right—she’s got all the curves, she’s sturdy, and she’s the perfect size for a variety of riders. Not only does she have the beauty, but she was blessed with brains too! She rides both English and Western, and she’s so broke to drive you could hitch her up in your sleep. She is the ideal family horse—you can pile multiple kids on her for a leadline ride or send the husband out on a trail! She always takes care of her riders and is totally a lovebug on the ground—especially with the littles. She is a rose among the thorns and truly one of the nicest mares we’ve come across. On the trail, Charlotte has packed a variety of riders for us, including complete beginners! She is careful, slow, and surefooted. She is always happy to go out, with a lovely attitude and a curiosity for adventure. Nothing can get under Charlotte’s skin. We have ridden her all over—through the woods, along the highway, in open fields, and into the river (she lovesss a good swim). She’s as unflappable as they come out on the trail. She will lead but generally ends up in the rear due to her slow, plodding nature. She’s in no rush and enjoys taking in the sights for a relaxing ride. She’s as comfortable as a couch and one you could ride all day long. She is absolutely no spook, buck, rear, or bolt—and no silliness (except maybe grabbing a quick snack when she gets the chance). This girl does love her food.  Even if you aren’t a “mare person,” we can guarantee Charlotte will change your mind. She’s lovely and kind in every way. Under harness, Charlotte is experienced and reliable beyond her years. She is able to hitch up solo and drives away from the barn without a worry or care in the world. She’s been on our busy road with all kinds of traffic flying by her (including semi-trucks and loud motorcycles). She is as unflappable as they come and solid in a busy environment. She’ll even stand tied and wait for you to get your groceries and load them in the carriage. She’s been hitched single, double, and to various farm equipment. She’s driven through tunnels, water, farm lanes, construction sites—and the busiest of roads. She’s essentially dummy-proof to drive. She’s light in the reins and responsive to voice signals. We trust her so much under harness, we’ve had our baby on board—she’s never taken a wrong step. Charlotte is also amazing in the ring! This girl is very hard to find a flaw in. She’s like riding a couch—so round and comfortable. She has a solid walk, trot, and canter both ways. Her canter is to die for, and she has the easiest trot to sit! Her favorite gait is probably the walk, and she’s not one that’s ever going to run away with you. She’s happy to mosey around on a loose rein but will happily put in the work and go when asked. Her brakes are impeccable—she will stop on a dime with just a “whoa” or a shift of your seat. She’s packed around the kids and adult beginners like a champ. She’s perfect for leadline rides and genuinely seems to love children with her whole heart. She will lower her head to their height just to get pets and love. She is also able to be athletic and has been coming along lovely over jumps. We’ve been keeping it light with the jumping due to her age, but we couldn’t ask her to do a better job. She’ll pop over cross rails and small verticals in the ring, and she’s even been out cross-country schooling! She is cute and honest in every way. With the right encouragement, she could easily excel in fox hunting or lower-level dressage. She has the proper foundation to go in any direction and is a superstar in every way. On the ground, Charlotte is safe to work around. The kids can run around her, brush her, lead her in and out of the field, and tack her up. She’s one that comes up to you in the pasture begging for attention. She loves people and will put her head in your arms for a hug. She’s gentle taking treats and loves her cookies. She is well-behaved for the vet and farrier, and she loads right into the trailer. If you want a solid young horse to continue growing with—one that you don’t have to worry about and can relax on and with—Charlotte is all that and so much more.
