Meet ✨Hershey!✨ (Sibling to Candy) — this perfectly put-together boy is a 3-year-old, 14.3–15hh Gypsy Vanner/Spotted Draft X gelding. This pair is some of the nicest-looking 3-year-olds we’ve come across—already so nicely filled out and round! Hershey is broke to ride English, Western, bareback, and drives both single and double! This guy is a blast to ride and such a fun horse to have in the barn.☺️
Under saddle, Hershey takes up leg well, and he tends to be more of a push ride. He’s sensible, smart, willing to learn, and well-behaved! He already walks, trots, and canters both directions. This guy has both leads, easy transitions, and he’s so comfortable it’s like sitting on a couch! He hasn’t been drilled or worked hard at his age; he’s just been getting the basics down. He stands patiently to mount, lunges, walks and trots over poles, and is all-around an easy, simple horse to bring along. He is the definition of a steady Eddy and guaranteed to be the same horse every time you pull him out. This guy has even popped over a couple of cross rails, and he is quite athletic! Hershey truly has some of the cutest movement ever. He’d be a great project for a professional looking for a versatile young horse, or we’d even trust him to be easy enough for an AA or JR rider to continue! This guy is so talented, and we could truly see him thriving in any discipline! He is incredibly sweet and special. It’s impossible not to love this lil chunk! ❤️
On the trail, Hershey has miles under his belt, and he’s quite the trailblazer! He’s brave and will lead the group, or mosey along in the middle or back if that’s where you put him. He’s sure-footed in different terrain and always takes care of his rider. You can ride him out on a loose rein and relax. He’s been through wooded, rocky areas and cantered through the open fields. He’s even ridden to town with semi trucks going by him! He’s completely traffic-safe and sensible. He will cross creeks or go into the river without hesitation. He’s used to encountering bikers, hikers, and dogs, and always keeps his wits about him. He’s been desensitized to the tarp, flag, smoke—and he LOVES to play with the ball. Seriously, it will keep him occupied for hours! 😆 He’ll go through tunnels or over bridges; all you have to do is point and go. We can’t say enough good things about this boy—he’s been so easy and just a pleasure to have in the barn. 🥰
Under harness, Hershey has been driven both single and double. He works well with others and is brave alone, and we couldn’t ask him to be much better at this age! He’s light in the reins, stops with a “whoa,” and has a nice reverse. He has the basics down without being driven into the ground. If someone wanted to continue him in this direction, he’d be such a fun project! He pairs nicely with Candy—and they make the cutest team. Ones that match up as nicely as they do are hard to find, and we’d love to see them end up together! 🙌🏼
In the barn, Hershey is a well-mannered little gentleman. He stands to groom and tack up, and picks up all four feet easily. He’s well-behaved for the vet and farrier and has zero vices in the barn or turnout. He’s a lovebug and will greet you in the pasture begging for pets and attention. Hershey gets along with everyone and still has a cute playful personality. He will try to convince the older horses to play but is smart enough to get the hint if they aren’t into it. He loves to be groomed, get scratches, be braided, and he stands to bathe. We’ve loved having him and his sister in our barn and can’t wait to see what their future holds!
