“Pistol Packing Dude” is a perfect prime age gelding with that stunning “iridescent” chrome gene Palomino color. His rare color is all set off with a thick beautiful creamy mane and tail that we have to trim 2 inches a month to keep off the ground. Pistol is flawless without a splint, bump or lump. He has Career earnings of over $30,000, gladly carrying dudes in his four, five and six year old year for us. The last four years he as only been Guided on. Extensive training in the arena started in his 6 year old year. He had never really even loped or stopped hard before that so chances of bad hocks and all those early hard use problems that come later in a horses life are not likely to show up. He was left to mature properly and was professionally started. Soft in the face with the snaffle, cow horse or full spade bit. Pistol lopes perfect soft slow circles and high speed big circles. He is a finished bridle horse. Check out his ranch riding video in its entirety as he never missed a beat. It won’t take a minute for you to pick us out of that crowd. That was only the second show. He did win. At his first show he placed first in confirmation under all three judges. As would be expected with his world champion double Skipper W pedigree. Let's not take for granted the dams side of Docs Prescription X DocOlena breeding. He cows up really hard. Possibly more than a beginner is ready for. He has been sorted on and was progressing really well. He really reads and tracks a cow naturally but aggressively.
He did have three months of professional rope horse training with Jake Scott out of Wickenburg three years ago. I broke my right hand just when he was finished there and I have never roped on him since. He would require a tune up with a professional but he was very fast out-of-the-box as you will see in the videos. That's Jake Scott on the head and Chantz Stewart on the heels .
We did shoot guns off him to check his ability and willingness. I am a former champion mounted shooter and he was fine, but I am professional. He was exposed to this three times but he could be finished out as the shooting horse.
We did dabble around in working equitation he did fantastic every obstacle and it was exceptional with the garrocha so please check out our video as such. Long lines very well. He has been ridden English and never missed a lick, so that is not a problem if someone wants to do all around.
He has been in three national commercials and pro advertising photo shoots. He's great with shiny boards and cameras. He is super willing and lives for attention . I would wish him to go to a busy “ride him every day home”. He has been with me since he was two years old and has had a four to six hour a day job every day since I started him. These busy using horses aren't meant to be ridden once or twice or three days a week. They're meant for daily job. If you don't keep them busy it is not fair and that is what makes him happy. He's a willing partner that will meet you at the gate kind of guy with 0 bad habits. He's literally been hauled thousands of miles to any place we chose to ride, he went willingly.
He rides, slides and turns around in little circles and has great changes. Naturally of course he bends and flexes and side passes and that's why he has nice lead changes. It is unfortunate I had three bad bouts of COVID which have limited my agility and desire to keep on showing him. It is my greatest wish that he goes on and does great things with a good rider and willing partner. He of course is registered with the APHA but could double at AQHA shows he's obviously eligible for the Pinto PTHA World show and even could be registered as Palomino PBHA for which his father and grandfather were world champions
