We are thrilled to offer “Amos” for your consideration! Amos is a 2 y/o 15hh Draft Cross (Percheron/QH) Gelding. Amos is truly one of a kind! He is exactly you want out of this cross. The bone and strength of a Percheron, with the handiness & athleticism of a Quarter Horse. We purchased Amos as a yearling and have enjoyed watching him transform into the horse he is today! We spent months with Amos before starting him under saddle making sure he was exposed to everything we could think of and gentle enough anyone could handle him on the ground. He will stand tied quietly to groom and saddle, to bathe, for the vet and farrier, and will hobble and ground tie. He will pony next to a four wheeler or side by side. Amos is an absolute breeze on the road, he will self-load or lead on/stand to be tied & untied and back off the trailer. He stalls great, has been kept overnight on a picket, and is easy going out in the pasture with other geldings and mares. When you ride this horse you would never know he was 2 years old. He is confident, forward, and rides in your hand. Amos is an absolute machine, he is eager to please, and always ready to work. There is nothing that you cannot get done off the back of this colt. We have had him on the trails, used him to day work and sort at the stockyard, he has been rode down the highway, in the woods, he will cross bridges, water, ditches, over downed trees. We have logged him, halter broke young horses, doctored calves, and used him for just about anything we need around here. He has been exposed to all types of livestock and wildlife (cows, pigs, goats,dogs, deer, and turkey). There is no limit to the ability and distance this horse could go! I could see him being a grandpa’s trail horse or something you use everyday on the ranch, then pickup rodeos off on the weekends. He is extremely mature mentally for a 2 y/o and I believe that is what sets him apart from the rest his age, he has set up for days and can be caught and saddled and will ride off with no silliness. He is reliable and easy to get along with. There are no tricks or gimmicks with Amos. He is currently barefoot but will stand to have shoes put on. His hooves are fantastic, he has no scars anywhere on his body, he’s never been injured or taken a bad step. He is hardy from top to bottom, easy keeper year round, and just a kind natured horse.
